Meet Edward
Professional Denver Photographer
Edward C. DeCroce
At deCroce Photography, we bring positive energy and an organized work ethic to each of our photoshoots.
Photography is a huge driving force in my life –– always has been. For the most part, I focus on people. But as a commercial and advertising photographer, my skills reach deep into different kinds of professional photography too. Denver Colorado is my base from which I travel the world for photography commissions.
The path has been a winding one - sometimes weird and sometimes wild… still is. But diversity helps me thrive and stay alive. Recently, I’ve directed commercial lifestyle photoshoots for start-up companies and shot advertisements for international travel corporations like Globus Journeys. Some of the most rigorous photoshoots are the ones for industry. But the results are worth the effort. Producing photography for renewable breakthrough energy companies like Xcimer Energy (nuclear fusion) and Fervo Energy (geothermal) has been exciting.
Because I grew up in a family of photographers, osmosis opened doors... or at least windows. So corporate photography and executive portraits came naturally. And I do love traveling to other cities like New York with firms like Rethought Insurance for business photography.
Over the years, I’ve made fine portraits of judges that are displayed in the halls of federal courts –– had my images used in national advertising campaigns for big companies like Firestone –– directed commercial photoshoots at airports - G2 Secure –– shot in dusty open pit mines - NTEC and in deep underground mines - Energy Fuels –– produced story-boards for corporate clients –– done a plethora of lifestyle photoshoots and coordinated multi day photoshoots with ad agencies like The Company Of Others. I’ve been commissioned to travel for photoshoots by US defense contractors like DRS and editorial shoots for industrial magazines like Oil & Gas Investor Magazine. In fashion photography, a fun photoshoot involved creating striking images to illustrate a lingerie catalogue for Pampered Passions. That one was unique because the two-day photoshoot took place inside a luxurious restaurant.
What ties together all these categories of professional photography is simple –– I focus on people. Every pictures tells a story. And I relish each opportunity to see people connecting with their environment. My aim in every photoshoot is to find; the best story-telling moment - in the good light - at the correct exposure - in the right frame of mind - with the best lens. And when my clients tell me that I’m fun to work with, well… that’s the icing on the cake.
Being a professional photographer since I was a teenager makes me vintage (like a fine tawny port, right?). I did have a couple of other jobs during my college years, but made pictures then too. As a white-water river guide, I made action shots for my company, Adventure Bound and landscape images of the canyons. I even packed an old 8×10 view camera with a Packard shutter on these multi-day adventures. For readers who aren’t historians of photography, a Packard shutter is an air powered leaf shutter activated by a rubber bulb. The shutter stays open as long as the you squeeze the bulb allowing for long exposures. Each image was exposed onto an 8x10 sheet of film, so enormous prints showed amazing resolution. Since I wasn’t truly experienced yet, I overexposed some of the images. But through experimentation, I discovered that mounting the bright sheets of positive chrome onto museum board gave a translucent back-lit quality. I sold them as one-of-kind works of fine-art photography.
After college, I worked as a cameraman and photojournalist for newspapers in Colorado mountain towns like The Crested Butte Chronicle and The Gunnison Country Times. In Denver, I did a lot of freelance work for magazines like Colorado Homes and Lifestyles Magazine. One on my fondest shoots for CHL was of olympian Billy Kidd in the deep powder slopes of Steamboat Springs and lifestyle portraits with his family.
But my story starts much earlier. All of this was possible because of my parents. Of course, that’s true for anyone. But in my case, it’s even more befitting. Edward Angelo DeCroce, my big nose Italian dad, and Signe DeCroce, his lovely Norwegian bride founded a Denver photography studio in 1960. And now, with my son working on photoshoots (his bio is coming soon), DeCroce Photography Studio is a three-generation 65 years-old business… WOW!

Travel Photographer Edward DeCroce Ponte Vecchio Italy
Travel photographer, Edward DeCroce, at work with camera on the bank of The Arno River in front of Ponte Vecchio, Florence Italy. This picture comes from a video commercial photoshoot for Globus Adventures, based in Switzerland. A featured couple took cooking classes, rode horses at a country castle, avoided long lines and, as seen in my travel portfolio, boated on the Arno River through Florence. DeCroce was hired as the photographer. This photo was made by professional sound-man Giacomo Verranda. July 2025.
